Hello! My name is Meghan Bogue and my business is Wholeheart Murals. I currently live in Haymarket with my family and I have lived in Prince William County since I was four years old. I have always been passionate about the arts and I actively particiapted in art, dance, music, and theater programs throughout my childhood. I attended The College of William & Mary, where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I continued to graduate school at George Mason University, where I received a Master’s degree and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in School Psychology. Once I graduated, I worked as a School Psychologist for Loudoun County Public Schools for almost a decade before having my children and transtioning to a part-time position for Fairfax County Public Schools. While working as a psychologist, I loved using art as a counseling method with my students. I have always felt like art is healing and incredibly fufilling as a method of expression. I find peace in creating art for myself and others. It brings me so much joy to create a piece of artwork that brings others joy every time they walk into the room.

About Meghan Bogue

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.

I am very grateful to have two wonderful children with my husband, Jesse. My son is a creative and chatty third grade student, who loves school, playing with friends, theater, and basketball. My daughter is a sweet and energetic kindergarten student, who loves crafting, yoga, and playing with her dolls. My husband, Jesse, is an engineer and can build or fix anything! We see my parents regularly, who also live in Gainesville.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

I am the artist and owner behind Wholeheart Murals! I create customized murals for homes and businesses, based on my clients’ passions or vision for their wall. I originally started my business, Wholeheart Murals, as art workshops with a mental health theme for children and adults, called Wholeheart Club. I wanted to help the people in our community find peace and connection, who were struggling with the stress of Covid at the time, by sharing my love of art and knowledge about mental health. I loved offering the workshops, but I realized that I missed doing my own art. When I started doing murals, I found so much peace and that magical “flow” feeling in the process. I was able to create art for others that they found inspiring, exciting, and joyful. I am able to tell others’ stories or convey their passions though art. It is incredibly rewarding. The name of my business is “Wholeheart” because I put my whole heart into what I do and it fills the hearts of others.

Q: What advice would you give to people?

My advice is to love and empathize with others, let go of your critical thoughts and take a leap, be genuine and honest, appreciate the people around you, be grateful for what you have.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

I see myself as being very happy and successful, surrounded by friends and family, and continuing to grow as an artist! Maybe some fun travel itineraries!

Meghan Bogue & Our Community

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

I love to eat and exploring new restaurants is one of my favorite things to do! I usually try a new place every time I go out somewhere, but locally I love Hidden Julles, Northside 29, Monroe Bay Oysterette/Eugene’s, and Thai Peppers. The new Locals Tacos & Tequila is awesome and they have a great mural! 😀

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?

I grew up mostly in PWC, but left for a little while during college and young adulthood. I moved to my current home in Haymarket in 2018. We have wonderful neighbors and I love my community!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?

I love how the Haymarket area often feels connected, like a small town. I love meeting new people and realizing that they are friends with someone I know. I attend a few local groups for small business networking and it is really wonderful to see the collaboration and support of small businesses.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

I would love to meet up with a group of friends and do tastings at multiple restaurants!!! Yum!

For Fun

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

I don’t really pick favorites because I am always watching whatever is new and interesting. I love a mixture of light comedy and dark/mystery/suspense.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

I’m pretty open, so I don’t know if anything would be too surprising for my friends and family. One of the craziest things I ever did was jump from a 35 ft high cliff into Crater Lake! Another random thing- I taught yoga to children for a little while and might want to get certified to teach adult yoga one day!

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

Hiking in a beautiful location, the ocean and beach, traveling to interesting places, eating an amazing meal, yoga class, Pugs/Persians/other adorable animals, anything art-related!

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

Amazing small business owners who exemplify true leadership and integrity by supporting others and lifting them up, Interesting mural artists and any artist with inspiring work!

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

Cozy, love, family
