I’m Lindsay, I’m a christian, wife, mama bear, & local writer. I am a self published author & a freelance ghost writer. I have mainly written preschool activity books. I am also working on children’s picture books & YA novels. Follow me on instagram @madebymamarrr for book updates & message me there to order a copy directly from me. I offer free same day or next day delivery for Gainesville, Haymarket, Warrenton & Bristow orders when ordered from me directly. My books are also found on Amazon, at Erin’s Elderberries in Warrenton, & Walk by Faith bookstore in Warrenton. Ghost writing involves writing content for people to publish in their name. I mainly have written website content for local, national & international businesses. If you would like blog posts written for your business, I’d love to talk with you. To promote literacy in our area, I set up a little free library at Cookies & Cream / Ghosted Concepts. Thank you to Carmen & Stephanie for allowing me to set it up there!
About Lindsay Sampson
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My husband & I have been married since 2013. We have been blessed two wonderful children. We struggled with infertility for years & suffered a miscarriage, which makes us extra grateful for our kids! We also are supporters of dog rescue. We currently have a rescued pit bull named Teddy.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I entered the workforce as a paralegal, first at a criminal law office. Then when we purchased our home in Gainesville, I found a family law office nearby was hiring, the Hopkins Law Firm, in Gainesville in 2016. I left HLF when I was pregnant with our first child to be home with him full time, & it has been awesome! There is nowhere else I’d rather be. I have been a freelance writer since about 2019, which I have continued to do while caring for my family. I fulfilled my dream of being a published author when I published my first book, The Strawberry Preschool Activity Book, in 2024, which feels like an extra amazing accomplishment, because I did it while caring for two young children!
Q: What advice would you give to people?
These two treats are from my days working in the criminal law office: You’ll never get to be old & wise without being young & crazy. Fish get caught when they open their mouths.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Homeschooling my children & writing more books!
Lindsay Sampson & Our Community
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Merrifield Garden Center’s Silver Jug Cafe, SolBol, Manhattan Pizza, Cookies & Cream, Ghosted Concepts, Zandra’s.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We moved to the area to purchase our first home. We moved into the home in 2016. I began working here later that year.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I’ve met so many wonderful people, I can’t pick just one! Michelle Hopkins of the Hopkins Law Firm. Robert Bryan of Bryan law, now Judge Bryan. Brenda Wilson of Lost and Found Pets Prince William County. Sarena Sindon of Sarena Floral Designs. Carmen of Ghosted Concepts. Dimitri of Manhattan Pizza.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
The Haymarket Gainesville Library is beautiful & always makes me nostalgic because I took my son there for story time when he was a baby. They have a wonderful storybook walk circling the building & they offer many great (& free!) programs for our community to enjoy. I also love Merrifield Garden Center. They decorate beautifully for Christmas & they carry excellent quality plants. Gardening is a hobby of mine, & I love getting my plants from them. MGC makes me nostaglic because I took our first rescue dog there often to socialize, & because my son pushed the children’s shopping carts around as he learned to walk.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I cannot say enough good things about our community, but to keep it brief, I’ll say this: Gainesville is friendly & convenient to the city, while also being near to rural attractions.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Ray Comfort of Living Waters Ministries! He is very inspirational & tells amazing stories. I’d suggest we eat at Firebirds.
